Synopsis

In his previous life, he was the godfather of Hong Kong cinema. His films grossed over ten billion at the box office, and he won every major award around the world. Yet at sixty-three, he died alone in Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital. His woman had left, his brothers had gone their separate ways, and he hadn't even spent all his money. When he opened his eyes again, it was 1993. At twenty, fresh out of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, he had nothing but a diploma and a pack of Double Happiness cigarettes. On his first day at Golden Harvest, the whole company took him for a useless tea-server and gofer. He sneered. He knew this world better than anyone. He rewrote scripts, snatched directing jobs, scored box-office hits worth over a hundred million, and swept the Hong Kong Film Awards and Venice Film Festival. In just three years, he went from a poor kid in public housing to the kingpin of Hong Kong's film industry. Beauty pageant winners, heiresses, and rising stars flocked to him. He never made the first move, never turned anyone away, and never took responsibility. “This time around, I’m going to make enough money, shoot enough films, and live life to the fullest. Whoever gets in my way, I’ll step on them to reach the top.”

Recommend Some Captivating Ancient-Era Romance Novels About Miracle Doctors

I really enjoy historical romance novels, especially stories involving transmigration, rebirth, alternate histories, history, and solving cases. There have been lots of period-style novels in recent years, but not many are actually well-written. Which high-quality, engaging historical romances have you read? Let's share them!
