Before my mom went missing, she sent me just one message: “There's soup in the pot. Remember to heat it up.”
When I rushed home, the soup was still warm, but she had vanished from the elevator security footage.
When she appeared again, she was standing on the nonexistent 18th floor. Blood-red rules were scrawled on the wall, and a fake property manager knocked outside, claiming to be checking the water meter.
Other people survive hauntings by hiding. She put on her reading glasses and pulled out a little notebook. “If you're here to check the water meter, give me your employee ID first. How many people are in the apartment? I'll write that down. And tell me who blocked the fire exit. We'll sort that out tomorrow morning.”
She saves people inside the hauntings, while the real world slowly begins to forget her.
Well written, I finally understand the evil of power and the evil of ignorance.
