The Beggars I Picked Up While Fleeing Turned Out to Be Secretly Powerful

Su Jinyao, an attending surgeon in the emergency department of a top-tier modern hospital, dies suddenly from overwork. When she opens her eyes, she has become a seventeen-year-old orphaned farm girl in the Great Liang dynasty who shares her name. From the start, her parents are dead, and her uncle seizes the family property before throwing her, her five-year-old brother, and her three-year-old sister out of the house. As if that weren't enough, a severe drought has plagued the north for three years, and the whole village is fleeing south in search of food! While others go hungry on the road, she digs up medicinal herbs by the roadside and trades them for food. While others avoid the sick, she restores patients to health with her silver needles. While others despair over barren land, she grows a thousand catties of grain per mu in saline soil. Along the way, she happens to save a dying “poor hunter” and kindly takes him in. Only later does she learn that this “poor hunter” is the heir to the Marquis of Zhenbei, whose entire family was executed. He is poisoned by a strange toxin, holds a secret military order, and has enemies throughout the imperial court. Later, when she opens a medicine shop, he backs her up; when she farms, he sets aside land for her; and when someone bullies her, he coldly wipes out their entire family. One day, Su Jinyao looks at the business empire before her, wealthy enough to rival a nation, and the officials and nobles kneeling outside her door, and falls into deep thought. “Wasn't I just planning to do a little farming?” Behind her, a certain aloof marquis pulls her into his arms.
