Synopsis

Programmer Zhang Ziyang was pressed against the wall of his rented apartment, eavesdropping on the couple next door. His hand trembled, his vision went black, and when he opened his eyes again, he found himself before a dragon throne, dressed in a dragon robe, with Ming officials kneeling all around him.

He had become Zhu Yuanzhang, the Hongwu Emperor, the Son of Heaven of the Great Ming.

Before he could even celebrate, he learned something even more terrifying: it was the fifteenth year of Hongwu. Empress Ma had just died, and history was about to take the turn he feared most.

The Lan Yu case: tens of thousands were about to lose their heads.

Beyond the frontier, the Jurchen tribes were still gathering strength in the mountains. In two hundred years, they would sweep into the passes.

Queue shaving and clothing changes, isolationism, a century of humiliation… None of it had happened yet, but it was already hanging over his head.

If he did nothing, history would repeat itself exactly as before.

Zhang Ziyang decided to flip the table: reform commercial taxes, change the policy toward the princes, lift the maritime ban, abolish the household registration system, and open the state monopolies on salt, iron, and tea to public bidding. He thwarted the conspiracies of officials in the north and south, brought down the Kong family, and set sweeping reforms in motion. Firearms innovation was beginning to show promise, and a new age of contention among the schools of thought was about to begin.

The campaigns against Japan and the Jurchen were only just getting started. This upheaval had only begun to lift the lid on the Great Ming.

Let the world tremble!

Historical Fiction! The Characters Must Have Brains!!

Are there stories where a modern person transmigrates back to ancient times and uses their profession to make a difference? Like a doctor who transmigrates to the past and advances medicine within the limits of the era, or a modern special forces expert who transmigrates to ancient times and builds an army using modern ideas. Or just invent penicillin or something. From the start, they pull out an AK-47.
