Horror Is Always by Your Side

This work is a collection of terrifying ghost stories.

Do you really think you're alone just because you live by yourself?

At three in the morning, your pillow sinks for no reason, as if someone has lain down beside you. On the bathroom mirror, a smiling face appears in the mist, then vanishes when you turn around. The wardrobe door hangs open a crack. You don't dare confirm whether there's a pair of eyes inside.

In your newly rented apartment, wet footprints keep appearing on the floor, leading from the front door to your bedside, where they stop dead.

You work late into the night, so tired you can barely keep your eyes open, and doze off at your desk. When you wake, your computer screen reflects your face, and a deathly pale face behind you.

It whispers softly in your ear, “If you're tired, get some rest. I'll keep watch for you.”

Ever since the first day you moved into that apartment, it has been standing behind you. It is there when you eat, there when you shower, and when you sleep, it bends down and comes very, very close to listen to you breathe.

You never turn around.

So you never see it.

You think it doesn't exist. You're wrong. It's been right beside you all along.
