The Warmth of Everyday Life Is What Soothes the Common Heart

There’s a little eatery in Qingfeng Town, run by a man named Li Ye.

He’s lazy and hates trouble. His catchphrase is, “Keep it down. Let me finish simmering this soup.”

He experiments with using tribulation lightning to grow mushrooms and heavenly flames to roast demon-beast skewers. A mute female swordswoman wipes down the tables, a sharp-tongued demon girl makes hot pot, and the young heiress of Xuantian Sect drops by every day for a free meal.

Li Ye thinks he can lie flat for the rest of his life.

Until one day, the heiress is forced by her family to marry someone she doesn’t love. In tears, she says, “I’m getting married tomorrow. Aren’t you going to congratulate me?”

Li Ye sets down his chopsticks and walks out of the eatery.

It turns out some things matter more than lying flat.

It turns out some people are worth giving your life to protect.
