Dividing the Family in the Wilderness: I Helped the Cool Educated Youth Live Well

In 1979, heavy snow sealed off the mountains, and the cold cut to the bone.

A beautiful, aloof young female sent-down youth, whose family background was considered deeply suspect, is ambushed. Desperate, she knocks on the door of He Jingzhe, the wildest “wolf cub” in the village, her eyes red with tears. “Please, save me...”

His selfish, biased parents take one look at the young woman and call her a jinx. Seizing the opportunity, they strip He Jingzhe of everything, take away his food rations, and kick him out!

In the depths of winter, his awful relatives exile the two of them to a dilapidated forest ranger's cabin deep in the mountains, where wolves roam, expecting to collect their bodies come spring.

But then He Jingzhe awakens the Mountain Treasure-Hunting System!

The cabin is drafty? He builds a heated kang bed and underfloor heating, turning it into a heavenly mountain retreat!

No food? He breaks through the ice to fish and sets traps for wolves, then munches on century-old ginseng like it was a turnip!

When the snow melts, his grasping relatives head into the mountains to scavenge, hoping to seize the last piece of He Jingzhe's homestead.

Instead, they are stunned to find that the rickety wooden cabin, which should have been a ruin fit only for a graveyard, is alive with cooking smoke and the irresistible aroma of meat.

The beautiful, aloof young woman is wrapped in warm furs, eating mountain delicacies stewed with a golden pheasant, her belly already carrying twins!

The relatives cry with envy in the snowstorm. “Jingzhe, we're family, after all!”

He Jingzhe gives a cold laugh and unleashes the three ferocious guard dogs in his yard. “Get lost! You wanted me dead, and now you want to claim we're family? Too late!”
