Records of the Bone Relics

In the year 2491, the universe is folding in on itself. At irregular intervals, certain regions of space are compressed and collapse, turning all matter and energy within them into “dimensional debris,” a strange substance caught between existence and nonexistence. Scavenging is the most dangerous job of the age. Scavengers venture into folded regions to recover valuable fragments of information and technological relics from the debris. During a routine mission, Shen Jibai, a scavenger from the bottom rung of society, unexpectedly acquires an abnormal piece of debris from the “Zero Dimension.” Hidden inside is a secret capable of overturning humanity’s understanding of the universe: dimensional folding is not a natural process, but an “information harvest” carried out by higher-dimensional beings upon lower-dimensional worlds. And humanity’s three-dimensional space is the target of the next large-scale fold. Shen Jibai is forced into the power struggle between the Scavengers’ Guild, the Dimension Research Institute, and various other forces, including the mysterious Folded People. His father died in a folded region years ago, leaving behind clues to a possible way to resist the harvest. Time is running out. Before the dimensions are crushed, Shen Jibai must piece together the answer to humanity’s survival from the scattered debris.
