This is a historical transmigration novel about Wang Yi, a modern-day PE teacher who transmigrates to the late Northern Song dynasty in 1100. Armed with an offline encyclopedia on his phone and a modern way of thinking, he gradually changes the fate of the realm.
He starts in a mountain village in Rongzhou, first saving Su Shi and Qin Guan, then growing sweet potatoes to solve the food shortage. He marries three wives: Xu Wanyan, Li Qingzhao, and Li Shishi, and founds the newspaper New Voices of Court and Countryside to keep officials in check. After entering the capital, he promotes young talents such as Han Shizhong and Li Gang, establishes a new army, and develops firearms and cannons. Using economic sanctions, public opinion campaigns, and military strikes in tandem, he executes treacherous ministers such as Cai Jing, recovers the Sixteen Prefectures of Yanyun, forces Western Xia to surrender, and brings down the Liao dynasty.
In the end, Wang Yi rises from an unregistered nobody to become a councilor of state, leading the Great Song to prosperity. He eliminates the threat of the Jingkang Humiliation once and for all and ushers in a “New Era of the Great Song.”
