The second installment of Modern Beggars' Sect: A Legend follows Ding Yifan and the others through a series of extraordinary adventures in modern society.
The story begins with a case involving the smuggling of precious medicinal herbs. Customs officials uncover a smuggling lead, and the police encounter a mysterious expert during their investigation. At the same time, Ding Yifan and his companions meet Ma Siyu and Han Ge, and join forces to help with the case. Meanwhile, a student drug-use incident at a school leads to a drug-trafficking gang, and they also cross paths with Japanese experts.
After that, telecom fraud cases become rampant, and several people close to Ding Yifan and his companions are swindled. To investigate the Shadow Alliance, the four accept an undercover mission in Gongbang Country.
