In the final years of the Warring States period, the feudal lords were locked in endless conflict. Lin Mo, a modern mechanical engineer, was reborn as a sickly live-in son-in-law in a declining artisan family in Puyang, Wei. The moment he woke, he faced a desperate situation: his engagement was broken off in public, and a powerful clan seized his family’s workshop. His predecessor had died of rage, leaving Lin Mo to confront a dilapidated woodshed, an empty household, and his weeping mother.
At the critical moment, the Divine Artisan System activated, converting modern engineering knowledge into System skills and blueprints. Lin Mo built an improved loom that doubled production efficiency, earning his first fortune. He then developed agricultural tools such as the curved-shaft plow and the chain pump, earning the people’s praise as a “master craftsman” and attracting the attention of the declining Mohist school.
Ye Qiu, the Mohist saintess, overruled the objections of her peers and brought Lin Mo, who championed standardization and mass production, into the Mohist school. She hoped to use his ideas to break the impasse that had kept Mohist mechanisms from becoming widely available. Seeking room to develop and protection, Lin Mo joined them.
Chancellor Li Huan laid a poisonous plot, splitting the Mohists into a retreat faction and a resistance faction. Vouching for Lin Mo as the saintess, Ye Qiu set out with him for Tiangong City. With the System unlocking advanced technology, Lin Mo introduced modern assembly-line production to the Mohist school and built powerful weapons for both offense and defense. As the two fought their enemies side by side, their feelings for each other began to grow.
When Li Huan sent assassins and plotted to sabotage the workshops, Lin Mo used the System’s warnings to avert disaster and expose Mo Ling, a traitor who had been bought off. At last, Li Huan allied with the Qin army and marched on the city. Mo Ling sabotaged the defenses, but Lin Mo activated his steam-powered repeating crossbow towers and routed the enemy. The name “Son of Tiangong” rang throughout the warring states.
With the crisis temporarily resolved, Lin Mo and Ye Qiu founded Tiangong Academy. Using the spark of technology to ignite an industrial revolution, they resolved to resist the coming dark age of ideological repression and embarked on a whole new journey.
In order to pay off his debts, Lin Mo first built an imitation machine, and now he is preparing to build a Quyuan Li. The plot of the story is developing rapidly, and he just wants to continue reading.
