The Path of the Dao: A Lonely Lamp in the Dusky Vastness

In an age of chaos, demons run rampant and evil spirits devour people. Chen Xiaobai, a middle-aged Taoist priest who always carries a gourd of wine and speaks with a bite sharper than the liquor, ambles along the road. Other demon slayers say they fight for the people, but he claims he does it just to “earn enough to get by.” Look at his couldn’t-care-less attitude when telling fortunes or reading feng shui. Look at how he can dispatch a real evil spirit with a flick of his finger. Look at the way he turns around and spends his reward on wine. In this world, people’s hearts are scarier than ghosts, while ghosts are more straightforward than people. Chen Xiaobai walks on through the vast twilight, cutting a path through mountains and building bridges over rivers. As for ghosts... that depends on his mood. Then one day, he discovers that behind this world of predators lies a game that has been in motion for a hundred years. And he seems to have been caught up in it all along.
