I'm Chen Laoshi, a Daoist Who Tames Every Rebellious Spirit and Evil Thing

Chen Laoshi was just as his name suggested: before he transmigrated, he was an honest, somewhat timid office worker. He woke up to find himself in another world, in the body of a boy with the same name, living in abject poverty and on the verge of starving to death.

Just as he thought he was about to die again, a voice rang out in his mind:

[Ding! The Host's powerful will to survive and 'honest person' qualities detected. Maoshan Celestial Master Training System successfully bound!]

[Newbie mission: Go to the mass grave behind the village before midnight and burn a stick of incense for an unnamed lost soul. Reward: Basic Compendium of Talismans, Qi Initiation.]

Chen Laoshi stared at the pitch-black night outside the window and listened to the distant howling of wolves. His knees were knocking.

"System, could I maybe..."

[Mission failure penalty: immediate death.]

"...I'm going!"
