Lin Zun, a young man from the modern era, unexpectedly transmigrates to the Song Dynasty. Armed with modern knowledge and a phone with barely any battery left, he steps into the turbulent world of Water Margin. In Yanggu County, he meets Pan Jinlian, a resilient and perceptive woman with a troubled past. He overturns the stereotypes people hold about her and witnesses the tenderness and courage she keeps hidden in her needlework and daily life.
In a chaotic age, Lin Zun uses his intelligence and modern knowledge to become entangled in a series of upheavals, from Gao Qiu’s schemes and Liangshan’s gathering of heroes to a manhunt in Jiangnan. He secures justice for Wu Dalang, helps Liangshan settle accounts for Gao Qiu’s stolen silver, and navigates the machinations of the authorities, gradually becoming a distinctive presence in a troubled world. He and Pan Jinlian grow from strangers to companions and then come to understand each other’s hearts. Along the way, they evade assassins, prepare to harness lightning, and search for a way through time and space. Through countless dangers, including prison turmoil, a standoff at a granary, and drawing electricity from a thunderstorm, Pan Jinlian never leaves his side. She helps him repair a generator, makes shoes to keep him company, and faces danger with him. Her simple, steadfast companionship makes her his strongest support in this strange world.
After spending a peaceful stretch of ordinary life in Hangzhou, Lin Zun finally calibrates the passage through time and space. Amid peals of thunder, he takes Pan Jinlian, with all the love and worry in his heart, and returns with her to the modern world...
