I Guarded Him Through Reincarnation, While He Waited for Me Through Time

Chuan Chuan was born with little taste for crowds, preferring untouched old landscapes that nobody visited. After turning 22, she developed a strange illness: whenever she touched an ancient landscape, she would be forced to sleep for an hour. She would wake aching all over, with no memory of what had happened. She had no idea that this was a fate carved into her soul a thousand years ago: during that hour of sleep, she was saving the person destined for her in another world from a year of deadly calamities.

Lin Yu was her only soulmate. He accompanied her across mountains and rivers, watching over her every time she fell asleep. But he was no boy her age. He was a substitute who had crossed through time. Each time Chuan Chuan slept, he lost ten years of his life. He went from a lively young man to an aged figure, and finally, at the age of 23, he breathed his last in her arms.

After losing the one she loved, Chuan Chuan awakened to the full truth at an ancient monument in the city center: she had lived five lives, dying for him each time; in this life, he had stayed by her side, repaying the debt with his years. To reverse their fate, she gathered the keepsakes from all five lives, offered her blood at the thousand-year-old monument to their love, and shattered the barriers of time and space. It turned out Lin Yu was not dead. His time limit for traveling backward through time had run out, forcing him to return to his place of origin. And the two of them were, astonishingly, the eternal core sustaining the “otherworldly space for transmigrators.”

This space was created by Yue Gu, a former enforcer of the cosmic laws, to shelter all those who had defied fate and been punished by the Heavenly Dao. Its inhabitants neither age nor die, and their appearances remain forever unchanged. For those alone, it is an eternal prison; for Chuan Chuan and Lin Yu, it is a reunion after a thousand years, with both hearts reaching for the other. Here, there is Qiao Jiao, who spent ages searching for someone before finally letting go of her obsession; Tu Jiu, who stopped just short of striking with his blade and finally laid down his murderous ways; and Zhou Datou, who once believed that if he could not have something, he should destroy it, but finally learned to let go. Chuan Chuan and Lin Yu watch over this world, helping others and themselves find peace as the warmth of everyday life endures. Five lives of solitary courage and protection, culminating in one reunion against the will of heaven. The Heavenly Dao is merciless, but only love can withstand the long passage of time.
