I Opened a Brothel in the Great Tang, and the Princess Insists I Become Emperor

Shen Tingsi transmigrates to the Tang Dynasty, hoping to keep his head down and live like a rich man. So he opens Zui Meng Pavilion, a top-tier entertainment complex featuring idol auditions, theater, and blind boxes.

To keep an eye on the place, he casually hires a few down-on-their-luck security guards and bookkeepers.

He never expects the head of security to be Yan Bugui, the greatest swordsman under heaven, the bookkeeper to be Zhuge Xuan, an unparalleled master of poison, and even the servers to be loyalists from the previous dynasty!

The whole bunch are chronic overthinkers, hatching wild schemes every night:

“Our lord is holding idol auditions to gather intelligence from across the land!”

“Our lord is selling blind boxes to amass wealth and recruit troops!”

“Our lord has endured in silence for three years. At last, he’s going to topple the Tang Dynasty and seize the throne!”

Shen Tingsi is speechless. “I just run an entertainment complex. I really don’t want to rebel!”

But things keep getting more and more ridiculous.

Princess Changle publicly calls off her engagement for his sake, a domineering female general offers her military authority as her dowry, and even Wu Cairen, who has just entered the palace, is willing to become his personal maid. The women fight each other for the title of “Madam of the Pavilion.”

Then one day, suspicious Li Er leads an army of a hundred thousand to the city gates. “Rebel! I’ll wipe out your entire clan!”

Shen Tingsi is just about to go out and explain.

The commanders of the Tang army suddenly change sides, and a hundred thousand hidden guards kneel in unison.

Princess Changle throws a yellow imperial robe over Shen Tingsi’s shoulders and glares at Li Er with her sword drawn. “Father, times have changed. Step down!”

Looking at the imperial robe on his shoulders, Shen Tingsi sighs at the sky. “Li Er, listen to me. I really didn’t want to be emperor!”
