Yu Lang of Kuaiji

Also known as: About How I Transmigrated into a Poor Family in the Southern Dynasty. In the spring of Yongming Year Eight, twenty-seven-year-old history PhD student Yu Xi stayed up all night working on his dissertation and died suddenly. He woke up as a sixteen-year-old poor boy named Yu Xi in Shangyu County, Kuaiji Commandery. His father had drowned, his elder brother had died young, and only his widowed mother and little sister remained at home. His registered status as an official household would be revoked in two years. Yet Heaven keeps moving with vigor, and a gentleman should strive ceaselessly. He had the ability to change his own fate, and even rewrite the history books. Prince Jingling Xiao Ziliang: “Shuda, this argument of yours surpasses that of the eighteen worthies of the Western Estate.” Shen Yue: “From the Yongming era onward, no one but Lord Yu could discern the principles of tonal prosody.” Xiao Yan: “Having Shuda is like the Han having Zhang Liang.” Chen Qingzhi: “If Shuda had been born ten years earlier, why would I have needed seven thousand men in white to take Luoyang?” Xiao Tong, Crown Prince Zhaoming: “My teacher protected me for fifty years, the Southern Liang for fifty years, and all the people of the realm for fifty years.” Yu Xi spent his entire life finishing the dissertation that might otherwise never have been completed.
