The Day We Divorced, Lawyer Zhou Lost His Composure

Lin Zhihe is a marriage mediator specially appointed by the Civil Affairs Bureau, and she is best at urging people to think it over. Zhou Xubai is a family lawyer, and he is best at making sure people get a clean divorce. In three years of marriage, neither of them cheated or betrayed the other, yet through one well-intentioned “I’ll decide for you” after another, they turned their marriage into a dead end. After signing the divorce agreement, they entered the cooling-off period, then were forced to keep living together when Grandma Zhou was hospitalized, all while maintaining a respectable front in public. By day, she mediates other people’s marriages; by day, he handles other people’s divorces. At night, back under the same roof, the grievances they never voiced, the affection hidden in old habits, and the silences born of misunderstanding begin to surface, little by little. This isn’t a melodramatic tale of a man chasing his ex-wife. It’s about two adults learning to communicate, understand one another, and stand side by side again on the brink of divorce, ultimately turning “almost losing each other” into “finding each other again.”
