Zhao Huan transmigrates to ancient times and becomes emperor. Before he can enjoy the riches and splendor, the Tyrant System bound to his mind nearly drives him mad. Every day, it assigns him tasks like humiliating loyal officials, skipping court, and indulging in pleasure. If he fails, it punishes him with electric shocks. Zhao Huan fires back by opening a complaints channel for the System, and it immediately crashes.
The absurdity only gets worse. On his first day at court, he discovers that every civil and military official is a transmigrator. The grand secretary impeaching the Minister of Revenue is an undercover agent from Northern Qi who also buys wool blankets on behalf of others. The Minister of Revenue, meanwhile, writes memorials in PowerPoint format, complete with year-over-year Q1 growth rates. The commander of the imperial guards munches jerky while scrolling on a nonexistent phone, and the deputy minister of works is building a communications tower atop one of the Five Great Mountains. They even have a group chat, using seashells as their messaging tool, invented by a fellow transmigrator who ended up in the ocean.
The Minister of Revenue posts in the group chat: “The new emperor seems to be one of us too. During the meeting, he said, ‘Let’s exchange contact information.’”
His nickname is soon settled: “Hardhead.” He is the first person to dare defy the System right after transmigrating.
This is everyday life in a court full of transmigrators. A bunch of office workers dropped into ancient times use modern corporate management to run an empire, while driving the System that urges them to be tyrants to the point that it applies for a transfer. But when the System’s true origins are revealed, Zhao Huan discovers that they have only destroyed the tip of the iceberg.
