A Fanfic of Folding the Moon

Moon Folding, starring Lu Yuxiao and Lin Yi

When Yun Li was sixteen, she saw Fu Shize for the first time at a robotics competition.

The boy stood beneath the spotlights, a distant, brilliant moon. She hid at the very back of the crowd, her heartbeat drowning out the crackle of her hearing aid in her left ear. She didn't even dare to go up and say, “Hello.”

Later, his name disappeared from all the competition reports. She thought she would never see him again.

At twenty-six, in Nanwu.

Yun Li walked into a VR arcade to check it out, and looked up to see the person she hadn't seen in seven years standing just a few steps away. The boy had shed all his youthful swagger, becoming cold and gloomy.

She instinctively raised her camera and pressed the shutter.

All she managed to capture was a blurry profile.

No one knew how long she stared at that “ruined shot” after she got home. And no one knew that this photo she couldn't bring herself to delete was the first reason she decided to approach this fallen moon.

At sixteen, she gazed up at him from across the crowd.

At twenty-six, the moon had fallen.

All she wanted was to be the one who picked it up.
