Pacifying the Southern Sea

In the thirty-third year of the Wanli reign, a massive earthquake struck Qiongzhou. Seventy-two villages sank beneath the sea, and more than forty thousand people were swallowed by the waters. The head of the Maoshan sect used the “Southern Sea Suppression Seal” to seal the entrance to the sea, binding the resentment of countless souls.

Four hundred years later, the seal begins to weaken, and the things buried beneath the sea start rising to the surface.

Zhang Heming, an heir to the Maoshan tradition, heads south to Qiongzhou on his master’s orders to track down the Sea Suppression Seal. At a haunted inn in the old town, he comes face-to-face with a white-clad female ghost crawling along the corridor. In a deep pit dug at a construction site, he discovers layer upon layer of bones and a stone tablet from the Ming dynasty. The seal he seeks has lain at the bottom of the sea for four hundred years, and has long since changed from a demon-subduing artifact into an evil object that gathers baleful energy.

Touch it, and you die.
