Tales of Strange Happenings in Chang’an

In the first year of Shangyuan, thirty years after Xuanzang returned from his journey to fetch the scriptures, Chang'an was prosperous as a painting.

A string of fox-demon murders drew Li Xuanwei, a junior astrologer in the Astronomical Bureau, into a deadly maelstrom. As he investigated, he discovered that the monsters' mischief was only the tip of the iceberg. The Wu clan was secretly laying a magical formation to siphon away the Li Tang dynasty's dragon veins and redirect its fortune.

Li Zhi's imperial aura was growing weaker by the day, while the breath of the phoenix surrounding Wu Zetian filled the palace halls. In the Ziwei Enclosure, a demon star was closing in on the emperor star.

Thirty years ago, the Astronomer Royal Li Chunfeng had written seven characters on an old document: “A fox bows to the pagoda. An ill omen. It will be confirmed in thirty years.”

Now the time had come.

This was a tangled struggle between humans and demons, and a battle for the fate of the empire. Between Wu Zetian, the Wu clan, and the Li Tang imperial house, Li Xuanwei had to protect what he was meant to protect: not one person, but this realm.
