After the Troublemaking Child Climbed the Wall, the Chief Minister Begged for a Hug

[Historical household intrigue + true and fake heiresses + a madcap subversion of tropes + mutual salvation + no golden finger + satisfying revenge. A ruthless young chief minister versus a possessive, grudge-holding, irritable little bundle]

Jiang Xiaobao spent three years raising pigs in the countryside before she was finally brought back to the capital’s Ministry of Revenue residence. She thought she would finally get to eat meat at every meal, but her whole family favored the gentle and charming fake heiress!

On the very first day after Xiaobao returned, the fake heiress deliberately smashed an imperial jade pendant and framed her for it.

By the usual script, the true heiress should have burst into tears, wrongfully accused and unable to defend herself. But Xiaobao sneered, grabbed the scalding teapot from the table, and with a loud crash, cracked it right over the fake heiress’s head!

As her whole family stared in shock, three-and-a-half-year-old Xiaobao calmly wiped her hands. “If you all think I smashed it, then I’d be losing out if I didn’t actually do it, wouldn’t I?”

Her brother berated her, her parents scorned her, and they threatened to punish her according to family law. Xiaobao packed her things, climbed over the wall, and landed right in the arms of Pei Ji, the most powerful official in the court, who lived next door.

Looking at this living King of Hell, whose brutal methods could make children stop crying at night, Xiaobao shoved half a roasted sweet potato into his mouth. “Hero, take me in! The fake heiress in my family is the illegitimate daughter of your sworn enemy. I’ll help you bring them down, and you can feed me roast chicken at every meal!”

Pei Ji laughed in exasperation and took in the little lunatic. From then on, the Ministry of Revenue family had the worst luck imaginable.

In court, Pei Ji had Xiaobao’s scumbag brother pinned to the ground and thoroughly trounced. Beside the imperial throne, Xiaobao munched on roast chicken and gave orders. “That’s it! Hit his right cheek! He called me uneducated yesterday!”
