The Crack in the Rules

In the Contract City, anyone who breaks the rules is erased. No trace remains, no one remembers them, as if they had never lived.

Lu Ci, an adjudicator, has personally executed three hundred rulebreakers. Her heart rate has never exceeded seventy. Until the three-hundredth person said one thing before dying: Your sister isn't dead.

She searched for three years. In the deepest layer of the rules, inside a cocoon of light, she found her sister's name. It was carved into the wall seven times. Every inscription said the same thing: Sister, I'm waiting for you.

Now she is going to bring her sister home. No matter the cost.
