Fake Country Girl? The Commander's Wife Is the Real Deal

[Seventies military marriage + calling off an engagement and crushing scumbags + doting, fatherly love + age gap + overwhelming advantage + satisfying read]

At her engagement banquet, her scumbag fiancé held hands with his scheming sweetheart and brazenly declared:

“The spot to return to the city is hers. A village girl like you, who can’t even read, is no match for me!”

Everyone in the village waited to see Shen Shuyi burst into tears and make a fool of herself.

Instead, she calmly flipped the table, then turned to the stern, imposing senior officer seated at the head of the table, his shoulders bearing the insignia of a general and still unmarried.

“Sir, would I make a suitable wife for you? I could help you teach this rebellious son a lesson.”

The scumbag scoffed, saying she’d lost her mind. Everyone else gasped.

Who knew that the iron-willed, dignified man would stub out his cigarette, fix his deep eyes on her, and say in a low voice:

“Bring your household registration book tomorrow. We’re getting married.”

After the wedding, the scumbag returned home in grand style with his scheming sweetheart, ready to lay down the law for Shen Shuyi.

He opened the door, only to come face-to-face with his father, the senior officer, whose expression was icy. Then a heavy kick struck the back of his knee.

“Have you forgotten your manners? Get down on your knees and call her Mom!”

Later, everyone in the compound assumed the senior officer had married a crude village girl and that they’d divorce sooner or later.

But then...

When the military district’s radar system broke down, her fluent Russian amazed everyone.

When the times opened up, she ventured into business and made a fortune.

At night, the cold, merciless old man rumored to care for no one pinned her against the desk, one hand on her waist, eyes red-rimmed and voice hoarse:

“Mrs. Lu, now that we’ve dealt with the rebellious son, shouldn’t you exercise the privileges of a senior officer’s wife?”
