[Pure Wish Fulfillment, For Those Who Refuse to Be Bullied] [Maxed-Out Talent] [Overwhelming Advantage] [Everyone Comes Around] [Career-Focused Plot] [The Male Lead Has a Long Road Ahead in Winning Her Back]

[Once-in-a-Century Beast-Taming Prodigy x Tough-Talking, Soft-Hearted General] [1v1, Devoted to Each Other]

Zhao Buji is the daughter of a beast tamer from the frontier.

At three, she tamed chickens. At four, dogs. At five, wolves. At seven, eagles.

In all of Great Liang, she is the only person in a hundred years who can understand the language of beasts.

When she is fifteen, a marquis's household in the capital suddenly comes looking for her. They say her mother was the legitimate daughter of the family and eloped to the frontier years ago.

Now the marquis's household wants her to return and "reclaim her place in the family."

Zhao Buji goes.

Then she discovers that this supposed "reunion" is nothing but an attempt to use her as a pawn in a political marriage.

-

The noble young ladies mock her crudity. "That wild girl from the frontier can't even recite a poem."

Zhao Buji says nothing. She gives a whistle.

Three golden eagles swoop down and land steadily on her shoulders.

The noble ladies turn pale with fright. She smiles. "I can't recite poetry, but my eagles can. Want me to let them give your parrots a lesson?"

Her fiance thinks she's too wild and writes a letter breaking off the engagement that very night.

Zhao Buji doesn't even look at it. "Perfect. I didn't want to marry someone who can't even ride a horse properly."

-

Later, the whole capital knows:

This wild girl can make eagles deliver messages, wolves guard the night, and horses travel a thousand li in a day.

The noble young ladies line up to become her students, the generals line up to ask her for horses, and even the emperor personally issues an edict: "Zhao Buji's beast-taming art is peerless in all the land. Effective immediately, she is appointed female official of the Beast-Taming Bureau."

Everyone thinks she'll stay in the capital and enjoy her good fortune.

But Zhao Buji leads her horse, brings her eagle, gathers her wolf, and walks away without looking back.
