In the early days of reform and opening up, millions of migrant workers poured into construction sites along the coast. Crowded into makeshift dorms just to survive, with long nights to get through, many formed “temporary couples.” They had no official status; they were simply there to ease each other's loneliness and physical needs in a strange place. Today, someone might pair up with one coworker, then move to a different construction site tomorrow and find a new partner. Everyone was just trying to make ends meet, and neither side needed to say a word. It was like a temporary coat to keep warm through the winter: once the project ended, they went their separate ways without a trace. The brief tenderness that blossomed amid steel bars and concrete bore witness to the hardship and desolation of a generation striving to make a living.
Very nice to watch this part
The story is quite good, but there are too many adjectives in one novel. One third of them are adjectives. Other novels are simple and clear.
A true portrayal of the real life of contemporary migrant workers
It is very real. It describes the relationship between men and women in the migrant workers' wave, and it is also a microcosm of an era.
