Cool, aloof female traditional Chinese medicine doctor X scheming male star
Younger man, older woman romance, six months apart in age.
By a twist of fate, Sheng Xi is assigned to appear on a variety show, where she meets her older brother’s friend, Shang Shixu, who is on his way to becoming a top-tier star.
Out of respect for her brother, this man takes good care of her. But the longer they spend together, the more she realizes he’s nothing like the cold, aloof person everyone says he is.
Even someone as slow on the uptake as her can sense something is off.
“Are you trying to date me?”
“You finally figured it out?”
“Sorry, you’re not my type.”
Sheng Xi gently turns him down.
“What doesn’t fit? Am I not handsome enough? Not tall enough? Can’t make money? Or are you prejudiced against my profession?”
She had already seen this man in action while filming the show, and Sheng Xi considered herself just as good at arguing as anyone else.
“You’re not right for me in any way, and I’m not looking to date!”
She thought a man of his personality would stop pursuing her, but he turned out to be nothing like she had imagined.
Much later, Sheng Xi wakes in the middle of the night and suddenly remembers all of this.
“I feel like I haven’t had a chance to run away since the moment we met. Every step has led me straight into your trap.”
The man, woken by her, gives a low chuckle, his voice husky with sleep.
“You’re usually pretty smart. Isn’t it a little late to figure that out now?”
