The 1970s: I Fell for an Icy Army Officer, and He Turned Out to Be Irresistible

[Period setting + irresistible chemistry + one-on-one romantic rivalry + simmering tension + temporary cohabitation + metaphysics + everyone's favorite + pocket dimension]

When Shen Luxi opens her eyes, she's become a “jinx” in the 1970s, cursed to bring disaster to men and driven out by the whole village.

Her own grandmother leads the way, throwing dung at her. Her own father threatens to break her legs. The entire village wants her gone.

Penniless and with nowhere to turn, she's trapped by a downpour at the entrance to the military residential compound.

The young officer, cold as a devil, inexplicably hauls her inside.

“Stay for three days, then leave.”

Three days later

Shen Luxi touches his radio, which he's been meaning to fix for three years, and it suddenly works.

She draws a talisman on a dead fruit tree, and the next day it's covered in fruit.

She casually points in one direction, and they dig up a whole cellar of sweet potatoes.

The cold-faced officer: “...Stay three more days.”

Three days, then three more. And three more after that.

Everyone on the base notices: wherever this supposedly unlucky girl goes, good fortune follows.

The crops double in size, the hens lay double-yolk eggs every day, and even Auntie Zhang's old sow, barren for ten years, gives birth to twelve piglets in one litter.

Meanwhile, the iceberg officer who said she could stay for only three days starts coming up with every excuse he can think of to keep her there.

“The roof's leaking. Take a look for me.”

“My back's a little sore. Feel my bones for me.”

“...It's raining outside.”

Shen Luxi looks out at the perfectly clear sky: “???”

The entire village of Shen, whose people once chased her away, kneels at the military compound's gate, weeping and pleading for her to come back.

Shen Luxi hides behind the iceberg officer, munching sunflower seeds.

The officer shuts the gate without a change in expression. “My wife isn't home.”
