The Whole Army Knows He's Sick

[Unhinged War God × Tough Military Doctor | Postwar Trauma × One-of-a-Kind Redemption]

Everyone in the army knew He Xing was unwell.

Severe PTSD. When an episode hit, he could tear apart an armored vehicle with his bare hands, or cry like a child in the grip of a nightmare.

He was a celebrated “Blade” on the battlefield and the army’s biggest “walking hazard.”

Eleven psychologists had been driven away by him. I was the twelfth.

On my first day reporting for duty, he was in the middle of an episode, dismantling a vehicle. I walked over, bandaged his wounds, and handed him a piece of chocolate.

He froze. The doctors before me had either feared him or pitied him.

I was the first to treat him like a normal person, and even make him pay for the damage.

My superior gave me a strict order:

“Cure him within a month. If you can’t, you’ll be transferred.”

I smiled. “I won’t need a month.”

Later...

He woke in the middle of the night, trembling from an episode, and knocked on my door. “Dr. Lin, can I come in?”

A battlefield flashback sent him spiraling out of control, but the instant he heard my voice over the radio, he came to his senses. “Lin Yan, it hurts.”

He knelt on one knee and offered me his medal. “I’ll trade it for you. Be my medicine for the rest of my life, okay?”

The whole army was stunned:

How had that unhinged war god suddenly become so obedient?

Looking at him finally sleeping peacefully, I whispered:

“Because I’m the only one who can cure him.”
