I Signed a Postnuptial Agreement with My Commander

After Lin Wei, a pet funeral director, splashed red wine all over her scumbag ex-boyfriend, she thought her life would return to normal.

She never expected a government-stamped Special Population Marriage Matching Notice to fall out of the sky, binding her in marriage to Major General Lu Chen, the army's notorious "Cold-Faced King of Hell."

On the day they registered their marriage:

She held an urn containing a client's pet's ashes, her eyes red.

He held his newly awarded military medal, expressionless.

She said, "Sir, I have an unusual profession. I run a pet funeral home."

He replied, "Perfect. I have an unusual profession too. I specialize in dealing with all kinds of unusual situations."

She thought it would be a contract marriage where they stayed out of each other's way.

He would stay in his quiet quarters, and she would run her cozy little shop.

He faced life and death on the battlefield, while she comforted the bereaved in her farewell room.

Until...

He knocked on her shop door in the middle of the night with an injured military dog.

She treated his wounds outside the barbed wire of the training grounds.

He changed the sign at her pet farewell room to read, "The Road Home Is Home, Too."

At an awards ceremony livestreamed to the entire army, she heard him say, "Half of this medal belongs to me... and the other half belongs to my wife and the golden retriever she just said goodbye to yesterday."
