Urban Cthulhu: I Can Strip Weird Beings of Their Traits

Wang Yuan transmigrates to Linjiang City. When he comes to, he is standing at the entrance to an old-city alley in the middle of a torrential downpour. His phone has no signal, the streetlights flicker, and the puddles at his feet eerily reflect a version of himself whose movements lag behind by half a beat.

A broken police cordon flaps against the wall in the wind. From somewhere in the distance comes a faint, ragged warning: “Don’t look back!”

Before Wang Yuan can even make sense of how he transmigrated, a charred corpse up ahead suddenly twitches and rolls over. Then a monster covered in cracked scales like lightning, its backbone jutting out, slowly crawls from the shadows as if forcing its way through a wall. It is clearly badly wounded, with traces of gunshots, electric burns, and scorching still visible on its body. Even so, it radiates an oppressive presence that would leave an ordinary person gasping. Wang Yuan hasn’t even figured out where he is before he’s thrown into a deadly chase, and realizes at once that this is no ordinary city. It’s a hellhole that can swallow people alive.
