After three years playing bit parts, Lu Weilan finally made a breakthrough with an obscure drama, earning a nomination for Best Newcomer at the Golden Crane Awards.
It was the day she came closest to her dream, and the moment she finally saw through the lies!
The night before the ceremony, her boyfriend, Piao Shiyan (formerly Lu Xingyan), called her in tears. “Weilan, I broke my leg! I can’t walk the red carpet tomorrow…”
Her heart aching, she bought some pain-relief patches and rushed to his place in the middle of the night. But through the window, she saw Piao Shiyan pacing about perfectly well as he called his agent.
“Don’t worry. Once she makes a fool of herself tomorrow in front of everyone, I can take the Best Actor award for myself! Her light has to be beneath my feet!”
In that moment, Lu Weilan tore away the rose-tinted veil of so-called “love.”
The next day, spotlights blazed across the red carpet at the awards ceremony.
In front of the entire entertainment industry, she played clear audio and video evidence, exposing every vicious detail and tearing her scumbag ex apart. Piao Shiyan’s Best Actor dream shattered right there on the red carpet!
She thought she would reach the top alone, and the whole venue erupted in astonishment.
But at the very last moment onstage, she was stopped in public by Xian Zhi'ang, a top-tier star with countless fans around the world.
The man dropped to one knee, a ring gleaming in his hand as he spoke with indulgent authority.
“Lu Weilan, that scumbag doesn’t deserve your light. From now on, I’ll watch over your career. Marry me and be the leading lady of my life.”
