Ruling the World: I’m the Emperor of the Qing Dynasty

After transmigrating into the Yongzheng era, I, Li Tian'en, only wanted to be a peaceful official. But the court was treacherous, and Manchus and Han were treated differently. Starting out as a seventh-rank county magistrate, I solved strange cases, put down rebellions, battled the Eighth Prince, and brought Nian Gengyao to heel, rising step by step. Yongzheng considered me a trusted confidant, never knowing I had already laid a vast, inescapable trap. At the imperial bed, I personally fed him his last bowl of medicine; in the Hall of Supreme Harmony, I forced Qianlong to write an abdication decree. From then on, I became emperor in all but name, ruling the realm as regent. But the new emperor was incompetent, and rebellions flared on every front: Qing loyalists rose again in the northeast, gentry clans carved out fiefdoms in the south, the southwest erupted in tribal unrest, and war fires blazed in the northwest. At seventy, I donned my armor once more, sending cavalry across a vast realm. Our artillery battalions fired in unison, routing the Cossacks; our navy sailed south, wiping out the Japanese pirates. Some call me a treacherous minister, others a ruthless warlord. I can only smile: There is no upheaval in this realm that I, Li Tian'en, cannot bring under control.
