My Ancestors Borrowed Prosperity, and the Heavenly Dao Makes Me Repay It with My Life

Alternate title: Crazy! The interest rate tripled. Is the Heavenly Dao a loan shark? On the Jiuyan Continent, for thousands of years, the founding emperors of every unified dynasty have made a deal with the Heavenly Dao on the night they ascend the throne: they put the dynasty’s final years up as collateral in exchange for a golden age at its founding. The Heavenly Dao anchors each deal through a “time pillar.” The current dynasty, the Dayan Dynasty, has stood for three hundred years. Its founding emperor borrowed a golden age lasting a hundred and fifty years, but three generations of emperors in the middle period lived in extravagance, tripling the interest rate. Now the Heavenly Dao has begun to collect its debt, and time starts flowing backward across the imperial capital, Luodu.
