Old Tales of Guancheng: From the Start, I Rescued a Young Woman on the Run

Chen Zhen, king of the mercenaries, code-named “Yama,” falls from grace and opens his eyes as a nightclub security guard in Houjie, Dongguan, in 1993.

Beneath the neon lights, Hong Kong and Taiwanese businessmen indulge in a life of excess; deep in the back alleys, gang fights are an everyday occurrence. The young women working there all have tragic pasts.

Kindhearted Chen Zhen decides to step in and declares righteously: “She has a gambling father, a sick mother, a younger brother in school, and a life in pieces. If I don’t help her, who will?”

From the depths of the neon-lit nightlife to the spotlight, these young women go from nightclub hostesses to top-tier stars.

This is a twenty-year comeback story.

And their legend begins with one man.
