Fluff Beyond the Palace Walls

The Lin family was convicted, and sixteen-year-old Lin Wanxu was sent to the palace as a servant. On her third day there, she found a tattered ancient book wedged in a dry well. The pages began to glow, and from then on she could read people’s hearts, embroider secret messages, identify poisons, and recognize medicinal herbs But the price was splitting headaches, trembling hands, insomnia, and backlash from fate. She had planned to keep a low profile and stay alive, but was pushed into the whirlpool of the imperial harem. Consort Hua wanted her dead, the Empress wanted her dead, and the concubines saw her as a thorn in their side. She refused to accept her fate. She played dumb, used others to do her dirty work, and planned every step carefully. While others competed for favor, she served as their strategist. While others fought for power, she investigated wrongful cases. When the emperor wanted to make her a consort, she knelt in the golden hall and said, “This servant only wants to leave the palace.” From a condemned girl to a legend, from within the palace walls to the world beyond. Willow fluff may be light, but when the wind rises, it can always fly free.
