A Work Diary at the Other Shore Group

My name is Lu Jingyao. I died.

The good news: I was reincarnated in the legendary Western Pure Land.

The bad news: it's called the "Other Shore Group." You have to clock in, meet KPIs, and even get your merit points docked.

My boss, Manjushri Bodhisattva, assigned me a PowerPoint analyzing the sharp decline in good deeds among humanity using the "Four Seals of the Dharma."

Maitreya Buddha slacks off in the cafeteria, fishing for worry fish, while Guanyin Bodhisattva buys her Pure Water Vase on an installment plan.

Jin Chanzi has applied to descend to the mortal world for the eleventh time. His reason has changed from "saving all sentient beings" to "researching the hot pot industry on Earth."

As for me, my merit points are nearly depleted, so I can only haul bricks at the Karma Logistics Center. I accidentally sent "win the lottery" to the wrong person.

A senior told me the most profitable job is "protecting the Dharma": descend to the mortal world to support a cultivator, and you get a cut of all the merit he earns.

One Arhat supported the same mortal for seven lifetimes. His merit account now has enough to let him lounge around until he becomes a Buddha.

I glance at my merit card: I have three points left.

So here's the question: Is there still time to take on a Dharma-protection gig?
