After Unifying East Africa, I Returned Home to Become a State-Owned Enterprise CEO

I spent three years coasting at a state-owned enterprise. The day I was sent to Africa, the System didn’t awaken, and my golden finger never arrived.

The rebel leader pressed a gun to my forehead and sneered, “Chinese man, either be our strategist or feed the lions.”

I quietly opened my laptop and slapped down a PowerPoint presentation titled “Integrating Warlord Forces and Improving Operational Efficiency.”

From then on, I led a double life.

By day, I was a project manager at a state-owned enterprise, getting chewed out by my boss on video calls, nodding and bowing as I wrote weekly reports that would never be finished.

By night, I was the chief adviser to the East African Freedom Army, commanding thousands of troops over encrypted channels, evaluating warlords by KPI, conquering territory with five-year plans, and rooting out moles at democratic life meetings.

I used captured gold to boost my company’s performance, and the warlords’ armed forces to protect Chinese-funded projects.

Everyone said I was lucky. In that hellhole called Africa, I somehow won employee of the year every year, got promoted three times in three years, and rose from project manager to group president.

No one knew that the draft of the “East Africa Regional Development Report” I submitted to the board was actually the founding constitution of the East African Federation; the hundred-billion-yuan mining deal I negotiated was made possible by the precision drone strike I’d ordered the night before.

I wrote weekly reports by day and conquered nations by night.

This was my wildest side gig at a state-owned enterprise.
