The Silent Survivor of the Apocalypse

When the alarm rang, Lu Chen was in the middle of a dream.

In the dream, he stood on a gray-white wasteland beneath a low, leaden sky. Something was moving slowly in the distance. It wasn’t a person or an animal, but a presence he couldn’t describe in words, like a wisp of smoke blown apart by the wind, yet possessing a certain “shape” that made his heart pound with fear.

It was coming closer.

Lu Chen wanted to run, but his feet felt rooted to the spot.

“Beep, beep, beep, beep, ”

The electronic alarm sliced through the dream like a sharp knife. He jolted awake, his back already drenched in cold sweat.

That dream again.
