County Magistrate of Great Qian: I Really Just Want to Slack Off

Chen Zhou takes office as the magistrate of dilapidated Ping’an County. Hoping to get dismissed and go home as soon as possible, he decides to make a complete mess of the job.

Want to file a complaint? Buy a ticket first, and bring your own table and chair!

Rich folk want to win their lawsuits? The courtroom’s “VIP speaking seats” are now available, with a charge for every sentence!

Chen Zhou thinks this outrageous “embezzlement” is sure to enrage the public and get him fired by the court in no time. But the pricey tickets unexpectedly weed out the most ridiculous disputes, while his “crooked” fees fleece the local gentry. Every penny he squeezes out of them ends up subsidizing the poor.

Listening to the people outside the courthouse hail him as “a just and upright official,” Chen Zhou is on the verge of collapse. “I really just wanted to get fired! How did I become a renowned statesman?!”
