An absurd blind date brings Lin Wanwan, once the “troublemaker recruit,” face-to-face with Lu Huaishan, her “devil instructor” back in the day.

He was the person she “hated” most during her military service. He was merciless on the training field, wearing down her rough edges with countless five-kilometer runs and push-ups in torrential rain. She thought that once she left the service, they would go their separate ways and never meet again.

But fate played a huge joke on her. The mature, composed man in a suit across the blind-date table really was him.

“Comrade Lin Wanwan, long time no see.” A familiar smile played on his lips, the same one that had given her nightmares. “I hear you're looking for someone who can keep you in line for the rest of your life?”

The shift from military life to the civilian world, and from superior and subordinate to blind-date partners, sends them into an awkward, amusing tug-of-war. She tries to turn the tables, only to find him quietly looking after her at every turn. He once taught her discipline and perseverance. Now he intends to teach her what it means to fall in love and love deeply.

As old grudges and misunderstandings gradually come to light in their daily interactions, she discovers that the harshest training of those years came from the highest expectations. And this long-planned blind date was simply his perfectly timed “parachute drop” after years of waiting.

This is a story about growing up, protecting one another, and healing together. The former instructor wants to keep her in line for the rest of her life; the former recruit is ready to spend the rest of hers telling him, “Please take good care of me.”
