Chen Zhou wakes up in the ICU to find himself strapped to a hospital bed. His former best friend, Shen Hao, holds a keepsake of his mother's, a bronze fragment, and sneers, "Your mother was a test subject, and you're just an experiment. We have your grandfather."

Three seconds later, Chen Zhou snaps his restraints and uses the bed rail to pierce Shen Hao's alloy shield. The building explodes, and a woman's voice called Wen Wan rings out in his mind: "Turn left. Run."

To save his grandfather, Chen Zhou activates the bronze key of an ancient mecha civilization. The key has nine levels, and each level doubles his abilities.

His grandfather has been transformed by Xinghui into a leyline energy converter, with tubes running all over his body. Chen Zhou kneels before him. His grandfather smiles and says, "Xiao Zhou, you have to live and see this world for me." Then he closes his eyes forever. Clutching his grandfather's body, Chen Zhou breaks down in tears for the first time.

Wen Wan says, "As long as we find Xinghui's main server, we can bring him back to life."

He pilots the mecha Night Stalker and fights his way through Xinghui headquarters, then battles the Tianshu fleet in the Thousand-Mechanism Armor. To buy him ten seconds, AI Wen Wan blows up her own firewall. Before she vanishes for good, she finishes singing The Moon Represents My Heart.

Chen Zhou kneels in space and cries out to the dark screen, "Wen Wan!"

The cursor blinks once. "I'm here."

He clenches his fist, turns, and charges toward Tianshu's home star. Behind him is Earth; in his arms is a backup of his grandfather's consciousness; in his ears is Wen Wan's final message: "From dawn to dusk, I'll be with you."

The key has nine levels, and he fights his way up one level at a time. Not to become a hero, but to bring back everyone who owes him a debt.
