I Became a Refugee and Won Over the Warlord With a Pot of Food

In her previous life, Shen Jingzhe was a chef at state banquets. Now she opens her eyes to find herself a refugee fleeing famine in the Republican era. With her is her daughter Xiaoman, who has aphasia but extraordinary skill at reading microexpressions and sensing the weather. From the start, they face a deadly crisis: refugees are about to cook and eat her daughter. Armed with nothing but a handful of wild scallions and a few poisonous mushrooms known as “Jianshouqing,” Shen Jingzhe turns the tables and kills the bandit One-Eyed Wolf. The wealthy Jinmantang Chamber of Commerce and a crooked pawnshop join forces, hoping to cut off her water and food and wipe her out. She turns trash into treasure, fermenting discarded poisonous bean cakes with century-old ginseng and local soil to make the finest vegetarian ham. Then she strikes back, building a restaurant empire staffed entirely by women. When He Ting, a warlord’s young commander suffering from severe combat-related anorexia, smells the aroma of her tea cakes and vegetarian ham, his agonized stomach miraculously settles. The cold-blooded, violent warlord eventually slaps a stack of silver dollars on her counter and puts both his life and his stomach in her hands. 【An utterly composed, ruthless female chef of state banquets × A violent warlord’s young commander with combat-related anorexia + A microexpression-reading child prodigy who can spot lies and protect her family】 No misery, no swallowing grievances, just overwhelming domination! Watch Shen Jingzhe overturn a chaotic era with her mystical lucky child and a single iron wok!
