When war correspondent Fang Mingyuan wrote of his love for Su Xiaoyun in his diary, he thought he would be able to return once the war was over. He never came back. Seventy years later, architect Lin Yu discovers the diary in an old house about to be demolished and finds Su Xiaoyun's granddaughter, Su Xiaowan. Carrying a diary and twelve unopened letters, they cross oceans in search of an answer: why did one person wait a lifetime while the other never came home? In a small town at the foot of the Alps, they find Fang Mingyuan's grave, and proof that love can last a lifetime.
