Game Fan Fiction: I Became the Best Player on the Server by Recreating Skills

Lin Xia, an art student, is obsessed with the game A Dream of Jianghu. Day after day, she pours her heart out to Xie Yanci, the silent NPC at Falling Star Cliff. Three years’ worth of sketches fill her drawers, and she comes to see him as her only confidant. As graduation approaches, the pressure becomes unbearable, and she breaks down and asks, “Can I really do this?” In the middle of a rainstorm, a line of ink suddenly appears on the screen: “One whose heart is dead has nothing to fear from thunder.”

The zither player who never answered her begins to speak with her. He remembers everything she has said and can sense the emotions in every painting she makes. Her devotion awakens a soul within the cold data.

From then on, he keeps her company with his zither from the other side of the screen, using gentle words to help her through real-life troubles. Her sketches are rejected? He teaches her how to put emotion into them. Her internship goes badly? He shows her how to balance her ideals with commercial demands.

A bond that crosses the boundary between the virtual and the real quietly begins to grow.
