The Ghostly Hand of the Blue Satchel: A Genius of Traditional Chinese Medicine

The Green Satchel's Ghostly Hand is a million-character epic of traditional Chinese medicine, telling the extraordinary story of Shen Yanqiu, a master who grew from a child prodigy in a Taiwanese military dependents' village into the "founder of the revival of classical prescriptions." Spanning half a century, the work takes the distinctive perspective of cultivating all five arts of medicine, destiny, astrology, geomancy, and divination. It follows the legendary Shen Yanqiu as he cures terminal illnesses with classical prescriptions, brings the dying back to life with acupuncture, and sees the secrets of heaven through the study of destiny. From a Taipei clinic to a university of traditional Chinese medicine in Florida, and from the movement to revive classical prescriptions to pioneering online teaching, Shen Yanqiu defiantly challenges the prejudices of his age and embraces both Chinese and Western wisdom. In the end, he establishes the "Green Satchel Medical System" and becomes a spiritual icon of traditional Chinese medicine education worldwide. This is an epic tale of heritage and perseverance, the individual and the times, and life and culture.
