In his previous life, Lin Xian was a disciple of an orthodox Chinese folk Daoist sect. He was well versed in Daoist talismans, internal alchemy and health cultivation, and feng shui formations, and deeply understood the Daoist principles of longevity and self-cultivation. His soul transmigrated directly to the eve of the 1945 Hiroshima bombing, entering the body of a young, obscure branch member of the Hanyu onmyoji family. The original boy was frail and sickly, with only a trace of an onmyoji’s destiny. Terrified by war and starving, he was on the brink of death. After transmigrating and merging with the boy’s memories, the protagonist inherited the family’s sole remaining basic onmyoji teachings and a dilapidated little shrine. The moment he opened his eyes, he faced the deadly threat of the atomic bombing.
A fusion of Daoist arts and Japanese onmyodo: Built on Daoist internal alchemy and talismans, combined with Japanese onmyoji techniques, shikigami summoning, and barrier formations, he creates a unique cultivation system. It can counter vengeful spirits and resolve supernatural disturbances, and even lets him gather spiritual intent to form gateways between realms and travel to other worlds beyond them.
The protagonist is utterly selfish and self-serving, meticulous and secretive, cold and unfeeling. He has no loyalty to his country and serves no Japanese faction. Everything he does is for survival: to evade the atomic bombing, build up his resources, cultivate onmyoji arts, travel through gateways to seize opportunities, and attain immortality. He kills without hesitation and wins over every beauty of the Showa era mentioned on Douyin, without giving any of them a shred of genuine affection!
