Bright Sword: Bloodbath in the Southern Frontier

[The Spirit of Bright Sword + Sino-Vietnamese War + Modern Warfare + Special Operations + A Veteran Takes Command]

This novel continues the legend of Li Yunlong from Bright Sword, advancing the timeline to the 1979–1980 Sino-Vietnamese War and the battles around the Two Mountains. At its heart is a veteran taking command, as traditional tactics collide with modern warfare.

The jungles of the southern frontier are shrouded in smoke. Vietnamese special agents move like ghosts, inflicting heavy casualties on our forces.

An urgent order from headquarters summons a white-haired but still fearsome veteran general to take command at the front.

Everyone doubts him. Can an “outdated” general adapt to modern warfare?

Then, under cover of night, an elite Vietnamese special operations unit sneaks onto the route leading to our command post. They lie in wait, ready to give the “new commander” a humiliating welcome.

But Li Yunlong, cigarette between his lips, barely glances at the map before pointing casually. “Something’s wrong with that patch of woods. Saturate it with artillery.”

An aide hesitates. “Commander, we don’t have any confirmed intelligence from that area yet…”

“By the time you get confirmation, my head will be rolling! Fire! I’ll take responsibility!”

A fierce barrage rains down, blasting the hidden Vietnamese elite to smithereens.

Li Yunlong wipes the dust from his face and calmly speaks into the radio. “Tell them I don’t care how elite they are. On this battlefield, I call the shots. They want to play at special operations? I was playing cat-and-mouse guerrilla games in northwestern Shanxi before they were out of diapers!”
