Siheyuan: I Reject the Rat Race and Become a Tycoon with Medicinal Cuisine

Transmigrating into a Beijing courtyard compound in 1952, Shen Yan finds himself orphaned from the start. The scoundrels filling the compound are plotting to “devour the inheritance,” hoping to seize the home of a fallen soldier’s family.

Shen Yan sneers, calls the police, and sends the worst of them off to prison, earning himself a fearsome reputation!

After awakening the [Paradise Realm and Divine Private Banquet System], Shen Yan refuses to rise before dawn and slave over a wok. Instead, with his astonishing skill in medicinal cuisine fit for state banquets, he lands a government-approved post as a “foreign affairs culinary consultant”!

He doesn’t even need to report for work, yet he gets a monthly allowance of 120 yuan, along with all the premium meat coupons and industrial vouchers he could want!

From then on, the compound has a “living King of Hell” who torments everyone with mouthwatering aromas every day.

While the Jia family is still fretting over a mouthful of cornmeal and Silly Zhu is still congratulating himself on his cafeteria cooking...

Shen Yan lounges in a wicker chair, divine Buddha Jumps Over the Wall in his left hand and palace-style peach blossom pastries in his right, blasting the whole compound with their irresistible fragrance from every direction!

Jia Zhangshi is so ravenous she gnaws on the walls at midnight. Bang Geng smells the food and rolls around in desperation. Silly Zhu’s prized cooking is reduced to trash by Shen Yan’s leftovers! Yi Zhonghai tries to guilt-trip him? Sorry, I only serve top officials!

A cool, aloof factory doctor and a cultured female teacher even line up at his door for nourishing meals.

The whole compound is green with envy!

Shen Yan: “I just want to be a lazy fish and make some tasty food. Why are you all going crazy with hunger?”
